Genetics
The Russellian Vampire does not draw
strength from ‘paranormal infection’ or rejection of a spiritual
‘supreme being,’ but from superior, enhanced genetics. The
theory is that the Russellian Vampire is more a ‘super human,’
having physical embodiments that are more pure and maximize the
potential of the human form. This is not a denial of inherited
traits or rejection of a person’s genetic make-up, but simply an
augmentation of those things to the peak of that person’s actual
abilities. Thus, the Russellian Vampire would be much stronger,
much faster, have greater resistances, and more keen senses than
that of its human counterpart.
Moreover, the Russellian Vampire’s body is in a perpetual state
of accelerated renewal, promoting faster and more-complete
healing, better resistance to disease and infection, lowered
effects from foreign substances, and requiring less of a need
for recuperative rest. Most importantly, the Russellian Vampire
never ages and, in some instances, actually has made the person
‘younger.’
Additionally, the Russellian Vampire enjoys exceptional
enhancements to the reproductive system, making female
Russellian Vampires far more fertile for impregnation and male
Russellian Vampires exceedingly more potent in producing
offspring.
Astrology
While most fiction and legend about
vampires remains largely centered on ‘creatures of the night’
drawing supernatural powers from Satan or another evil, the
Russellian Vampire gains small additional abilities from two
specific details: the exact time and place they were born, and
the exact time and place they were made into a vampire. A
“bi-natal chart,” a method that utilizes astrology to determine
both the core personality and the ‘vampire personality’ of the
Russellian Vampire, determines the vampire’s added abilities and
inherent personality traits.
When
and where a Russellian Vampire is born to ordinary, mortal
existence is essential to determining the core personality of
the vampire, no differently than it would any other person. This
same methodology is applied to the moment in which that same
person was made into a vampire, creating a ‘secondary layer’ to
the astrological natal chart. Combining these two elements
determines the ‘vampire personality’ and establishes what, if
any, additional powers or abilities a Russellian Vampire
develops.
This
aspect of the Russellian Vampire will be examined in further
detail in
“BLOOD BROTHERS: Jacyn’s Journey – Book
Four.”
Nature
Another consideration in the genetics of
the Russellian Vampire is ‘the nature of the beast.’ Russellian
Vampires, by virtue of their enhanced genetics, are far more
‘animalistic’ in their motivations and exhibit a more primal
nature. Male Russellian Vampires tend to be more aggressive,
domineering, vocal, and violent than their non-vampire
equivalents as a result of increased testosterone production.
Males also display a seemingly insatiable sexual appetite that
is frequently matched with an apparent lack of interest in
monogamous commitment.
Conversely, the female Russellian Vampire is often the
personification of femininity, being soft-spoken, gentle, timid,
and passive. They are commonly the nurturers, caring for the
male vampires and the home, bearing and rearing the young, and
living under the constant and overshadowing superior strength of
the vampire men. The females also manifest an increased libido,
and generally delight in being the objects of the male vampires
frequent and forceful affections.
Both
genders of the Russellian Vampire manifest an unconquerable
survival instinct, and will do anything to survive. They will
fight fiercely and have no qualms about killing a perceived
threat, will sacrifice another vampire to preserve their own
lives, and are completely incapable of suicide, despite the
intent or desire behind it. A Russellian Vampire would never
‘take a bullet’ for another unless he or she was completely
convinced of surviving the act.
Vampire Society
Russellian Vampires exist on the fringes of all cultures, often
living a secretive way of life among people that are blissfully
unaware of the predators they share communities with. Vampires
maintain associations with “perishables” (non-vampires, so-named
because they will actually grow old and die) primarily because
they need them for feeding, and because they provide amusement
to the cruelly playful natures of the male Russellian Vampire.
Among
their own kind, Russellian Vampires generally observe a
hierarchy similar to that of a pride of lions. The strongest,
most fierce male generally rules any household, though his place
in leadership can be challenged or taken at any time by a
stronger or more cunning male. However, once the hierarchy is
established, it is commonly maintained and respected among the
males, as challenging the leader might result in a death, and
another male would have to be assured of his chances of winning
before engaging in such an endeavor.
The females of any
household are generally at the mercy of the males, and normally
live to serve the stronger males in any manner that is demanded
of them. While jealousy and conflict are not unheard of among
the females of a household, it is unusual to see it openly
displayed, as strife among the ‘girls’ tends to annoy the males
and may result in drastic acts of discipline and control,
occasionally even death.
The households of
Russellian Vampires are generally little more than dens of
debauchery and all manner of sordid behaviors. A “family” is
frequently any number of vampires, though most households have
at least six vampires and it is very rare that a household has
any two vampires that were related by birth. Russellian Vampires
tend to favor larger houses, preferably secluded but still
within close proximity to urban or suburban communities (where
‘perishables’ are plentiful), as they like their privacy but
still want enough space to grow their ‘families’ without
overpopulating a home.
As a rule,
Russellian Vampires don’t like to share territories, and will
distance themselves from other houses if possible. This is part
of the survival instinct, a recognition by the vampires that
having too many ‘perishable’ victims in any specific area only
serves as a great threat to their secret lives.
